My introduction to Trentino began with stories told to me as a child – stories about a valley in northern Italy (Val di Non) surrounded by mountains, castles, and lakes. Culturally Italian, it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until the end of World War I. Growing up, we were “Austrian”, not “Italian”. These stories fueled a desire to learn more about the area — its people, our mutual ancestral beginnings, its culture, its history.
Here you will find information and resources to help you in learning more about your family, your culture, and your heritage – from information about ancestral villages to information about actual people who made the voyages to what they hoped would be a land of opportunity. Material is added as often as time permits. All material from my trentinoheritage.com site will eventually be transferred here.
